Founder: Chen Ping
The group’s founder, Chen Ping, is a scholar, entrepreneur, Chairman of Sun Television, and a visionary investor.
Reform and opening
Chen was a principal participant in the April Fifth Movement of 1976 and one of the key advisers to China’s reform and opening in the 1980s. He proposed strategic policies including opening China’s entire coastal region, establishing high-technology development zones, and building a Eurasian Land Bridge. He authored the Report on the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and was a principal participant in the 1984 Symposium of Young and Middle-Aged Economic Scientists, also known as the Moganshan Conference. Through this work, he made a series of important contributions during China’s reform era of the 1970s and 1980s.

Building across borders
After the Tiananmen events of 1989, Chen entered business. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, he worked successively in mainland China, the China–Myanmar border region, the former Soviet Union and subsequently Russia, Eastern Europe, West Germany and subsequently Germany, the United States, and Hong Kong. His activities ranged from clothing wholesale and materials trading to real estate, financial services, and high-technology industries.

In 1992, he founded TIDETIME in Hong Kong. TideTime and Sony worked together for more than a decade, during which TideTime provided OEM production and worldwide sales of Sony’s 3.5-inch floppy disks. The original profile records a global floppy-disk market share of more than 50%.
Media, history, and public understanding
In 2005, TideiSun Group acquired all of the equity in Sun Television (iSunTV), transforming it into a channel specializing in historical and cultural documentaries and in-depth discussion programmes.

In 2011, he launched iSun Affairs Weekly, committed to independence, genuine insight, and truth. Within six months of publication, it had won four awards from the Society of Publishers in Asia.

Distributed technology and a longer-term vision
Research and development on iSunCloud began in 2009. Through a secure, efficient architecture for distributed cloud storage, the initiative sought to advance information equality, mutual assistance, and self-governance: a future in which everyone could help create value and provide services.
This decentralized network of storage, computing, and communications formed the foundation for the group’s development of decentralized blockchain technology. The original profile expressed a vision of fundamentally transforming established industrial, commercial, and financial arrangements, democratizing economic life, and helping society become more equal, diverse, balanced, sustainable, and hopeful.

iSunOne’s Nasdaq roadshow and the iSunCloud promotional film were featured in the original profile. Current ownership and research status are presented separately in the group history.
Chairman Chen is skilled at understanding macroeconomic trends and identifying large-scale business opportunities across industry value chains. He is a driver of innovation in both technology and business models.
The original profile describes blockchain as redefining relationships in production and changing how people relate to one another, reflecting Chen’s pursuit of a sustainable society. Drawing on the values of decentralization, TideiSun Group aspired to build an economic model and financial ecosystem that serves individuals, redistributes power and benefits, and pursues the highest efficiency and the fullest fairness.
