This event is hosted by the China International Association for the Promotion of Cultural and Artistic Exchange and co-organized by SunTV (Hong Kong), with a focus on fostering the deep integration of science and the arts, and promoting the spirit of scientists. Simultaneously, the event will launch the “Cultural Harmony · Youth Empowerment for Hong Kong” comprehensive initiative, injecting strong momentum into cultural cooperation and youth exchange across the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, while building an important bridge for Chinese culture to go global.
The event is set against the backdrop of the centennial celebration of Nobel Laureate Tsung-Dao Lee (1926–2024), paying tribute to this pioneer of the fusion between science and the arts. As a Chinese-American physicist, Tsung-Dao Lee, at the age of 31, co-proposed the theory of parity violation in weak interactions with Chen-Ning Yang, winning the Nobel Prize in Physics and becoming the first Chinese recipient of the award. He made outstanding contributions to quantum field theory and particle physics, proposing foundational theories such as the “Lee Model” and the “KLN Theorem,” and authored the seminal work Field Theory and Particle Physics. Most notably, he firmly believed that “science and art are two sides of the same coin.” Beginning in the 1980s, he collaborated with artists such as Wu Guanzhong and Li Keran to create science-themed artworks, advocated the founding of the Shanghai International Exhibition of Art and Science, and systematically expounded the view that “the common foundation of science and art is human creativity,” providing important theoretical and practical contributions to the global movement of art–science integration.
Within the “Cultural Harmony · Youth Empowerment for Hong Kong” initiative, the deep combination of technology and art in the context of philanthropy becomes a major highlight. The “Public Cultural and Artistic Access Program” leverages the technological advantages of the Greater Bay Area to provide diversified art education and participation opportunities for underprivileged communities. Through artistic practice, the program fosters social inclusion and contributes to shared spiritual prosperity. The “Cultural Achievement Integration and Exhibition Plan” integrates top-tier cultural resources from China and abroad to create innovative exhibitions, public lectures, and charity auctions via digital platforms—transforming the value of Chinese heritage and philanthropic culture into broader, sustainable development.
As the event organizer, the China International Association for the Promotion of Cultural and Artistic Exchange operates as a non-profit organization committed to benefiting Hong Kong society through educational and cultural promotion. Capitalizing on Hong Kong’s unique position as a meeting point of Eastern and Western cultures, the association serves as a two-way platform for international cultural exchange. It places strong emphasis on inclusivity, offering free or subsidized cultural and artistic experiences to underprivileged groups to foster equal cultural participation. By bringing together top-tier cultural and artistic resources from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and around the world, the association presents outstanding cultural achievements to the public through immersive experiences, charitable initiatives, and creative programs. It is also dedicated to nurturing the cultural interest and creativity of Hong Kong’s youth, providing development platforms to cultivate future cultural ambassadors. Furthermore, it actively establishes strategic partnerships with domestic and international cultural institutions to strengthen and elevate Hong Kong’s cultural brand identity.
As the co-organizer, SunTV has remained steadfast in its positioning as the world’s only Chinese-language independent opinion and documentary channel since its founding in Hong Kong in 2000. With its core production hubs in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Taipei, the network has built a multi-platform communication matrix spanning satellite television and mobile applications, broadcasting 24/7 to 127 countries and regions. It focuses on programming and documentary content in cultural tourism, history, and the humanities. For many years, SunTV has adhered to the principles of “truth, authenticity, and insight,” with “people” at the heart, “culture” as the foundation, and “commerce” as the driver—serving the global Chinese-speaking elite.
SunTV Chairman Chen Ping stated that the platform upholds the philosophy of “cultivating people through culture, connecting hearts through science and art, and pursuing truth with integrity.” The platform aligns closely with national cultural strategies and adheres to the core creative values of “high quality, high value, and high traffic.” Domestically, it focuses on building a leading media brand and influential IPs; internationally, it strives to tell compelling Chinese stories. He emphasized that Hong Kong, as a key intersection of Eastern and Western cultures, is a vital base for Chinese cultural globalization. SunTV will continue to leverage its strategic location to promote the global outreach of Chinese civilization and facilitate reciprocal exchange between China and the world.
This event stands as a concrete implementation by the China International Association for the Promotion of Cultural and Artistic Exchange and SunTV in support of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan objectives—particularly the directives to “strengthen cultural confidence and resilience” and “advance the integration of culture and technology.” With the support of numerous institutions, the event honors Tsung-Dao Lee’s scientific spirit and patriotic legacy while uniting diverse sectors to infuse new vitality into Hong Kong’s cultural prosperity and youth development, further enhancing humanistic exchange within the Greater Bay Area. As the “Cultural Harmony · Youth Empowerment for Hong Kong” initiative progresses, Hong Kong is poised to become a major hub for the global expansion of Chinese culture. SunTV will continue to strengthen its role as a cultural messenger by integrating traditional and new media platforms, turning the treasures of Chinese civilization into a vital bridge that connects China with the world—fulfilling the vision of “Cultural Harmony, Youth Empowerment, Greater Bay Unity, Global Connectivity.”
